Rob Romani’s Transcript/Description Scene Description: Rob Romani is sitting on a bench with his manual wheelchair next to him. We are at Inglis House in Philadelphia, PA in the open tree lined courtyard. It is a beautiful day, around 6pm, so we are quickly approaching the “Golden Hour” where the sun is a mixture of crimson, orange, and yellow bursts, and they sun’s rays are peering thru the vast oak tree area as we conduct our interview. It is a little windy, but mild. Rob is being interviewed as part of The Dream Alliances’ on-going commitment to produce promotional videos for the Independence Starts Here festival and it’s website. Transcript: “Hi, I’m Rob Romani, I’m with The Dream Alliance, and I’m handling a lot of the filmmaking for Independence Starts Here.” [The Independence Starts Here logo comes onto screen with a little funky music bed underneath of it and then we are back to Rob. A new, lower profile, yet emotional music bed fades up as Rob resumes speaking.] “I think as anybody with a camera in hand, your responsibility is to capture the moment and capture the person. And as an artist and also a disabled person, I want to capture the artist. It’s kind of different to go out and watch other people and watch other things, that are being done.” “Right now, I’m filming the committee meetings. I’m also filming some behind the scenes with stuff. I’ll be filming different events, and during the course of the festival I’ll be taping different, ah, different programs.” “There’s not really much in the way of limitations. I’m very capable for doing a lot of things and through VSA I’m being given the opportunity to be little bit more upwardly mobile and do things that I not only can do but probably wouldn’t have the chance to do ordinarily.” “I’d like to think that it sends the message that were knocking on the door, that we are here, we’re not all of one type, or one disability or inability. But I think it actually does show that somebody in my situation is capable of doing a world of things. And, as a cameraman, I wanna capture that.”
